Information Technologies in Planning and Design I
Basic idea of the module
Geographical Information Systems have become an essential instrument in transferring information from an increasingly complex inventory of spatial data to the actual planning. They support the analysis and evaluation of a planning area and allow multi-layered investigations especially in relation to the interaction between factors relevant for the landscape and intrusions or impacts upon the environment. The module enables an unaided analysis of a landscape with the help of Desktop-GIS-Software Arc View/Arc GIS and an in-depth technical and theoretical understanding will be developed during the course.

- Knowledge of geographic data processing
- Understanding of the capacity and functioning of a GIS-System
- Ability to independently carry out a multiple spatial analysis with Arc View/Arc GIS
