4.2 Planning and Design Methods II
Courses:
4.2.1 Methods of Participation and Communication
4.2.2 The Space Factor in the Design Process
4.2.3 Monitoring and Evaluation
4.2.4 The Time Factor in the Design Process
Basic idea of the module
In the course
The Space Factor in the Design Process, special thinking processes, models and strategies will be taught, both as examples and in-depth, as a basis for analyse and as a basis for synthesis in the sense of concept development, building upon the first semester. An insight will be given into analytical, artistic and creative approaches.
Furthermore types and mechanisms of cooperation will be taught in the course
Methods of Participation and Communication as a consequence of the importance of working together with users and other participants.
Learning outcomes
4.2.1 Methods of participation and communication
- Knowledge of methods used in practice
4.2.2 The space factor in the design process
- Strengthening of the ability to make judgements upon a qualified analytical, planning and design strategy for a particular issue on the basis of a corresponding theoretical background.
- Ability to pose critical questions about planning procedures and tools, which have been presented, to deal with these creatively, to make innovative changes and, where necessary, to suggest further development.
- Methods used in related disciplines will also be addressed.
4.2.3 Monitoring and Evaluation
- Knowledge of various methods of monitoring and evaluation and the ability to apply them
4.2.4 The time factor in the design process
- Ability to think strategically and methodically in landscape architecture and to apply those abilities
- Acquaintance with methods and strategies used in a similar way in neighbouring disciplines and the development of an individual methodological approach
- Knowledge of various methods of monitoring and evaluation and the ability to apply them
- Appreciation for the time factor in the planning and design process and the ability to use this in one’s own design strategies
