International Master of Landscape Architecture (IMLA)

Systematic, efficient and practice-oriented - the internationally recognized master's programme

Accreditation by ACQUIN

Overview

Training at noted universities

The International Master's Programme in Landscape Architecture (known as the IMLA programme for short) involves study at three higher education institutions:

  • Nürtingen-Geislingen University
    Baden-Württemberg, Germany
  • Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences
    Bavaria, Germany
  • Further partners
    will be announced

Quality training with high practical relevance

The exacting but effective programme is divided into five practice-oriented subject areas - Projects, Planning and Design in Europe, Planning and Project Management, Information Technologies in Planning and Design, and Planning and Design Methods - and provides high-quality training aligned to labour market requirements, thus honing skills for which there is likely to be an increased demand in future.

The IMLA programme has a strong practical focus. Much of its teaching in the area of management, marketing and digital planning methods is provided by outside specialists, and experts are invited to act as guest critics on the projects. The faculty members are highly qualified in their areas of specialisation and also in didactic terms. Further details of the teaching staff

Focus on peri-urban landscapes

IMLA courses have current thematic emphases. The focus concentrates on landscape architecture in peri-urban areas. Areas of study will be the urban regions of Budapest (HU), Stuttgart (DE) and Milano (IT) et.al. In the context of these case-studies students will identify how market forces and state regulations are interacting in differing scenarios and thus determining the possibilities of landscape architecture. This unconventional approach will ask for both planning and design skills.

Enhanced vocational prospects thanks to IMLA accreditation

The International Master of Landscape Architecture programme is accredited according to the standards of the German Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Architecture and Planning (ASAP), meaning that it complies with the requirements of the European-wide EFLA Education Policy Document and the guidelines of the worldwide UNESCO / UIA Charter of Architectural Education. ASAP accreditation is a sign of the high standard of the IMLA programme and enhances the vocational prospects of IMLA graduates quite significantly.

Master of Engineering

An internationally recognized Master of Engineering (M. Eng.) degree is awarded on successful completion of the master's examination.
