Planning and Design in Europe I
Basic idea of the module
Working and further education in Europe are becoming more and more important - the opportunities for professional employment, recognition and registration on the one hand, and the profiles required for vocational training and continuing professional development on the other, will thus be important aspects in the future.
Applied research and development is now being carried out increasingly within the realm of Public-Private-Partnership. It is therefore important to be able to operate in this complex field.
Planning in landscape architecture is being increasingly governed by European legislation (e.g. the Flora-Fauna-Habitat Guidelines). Yet each European country has its own diverse, national planning regulations in both a methodological and legal sense. The aim of this module is to build up an understanding of professional European planning instruments and legislation and their application
Learning outcomes
- Knowledge of the European legislative framework governing the profession and the various profiles of professional training
- Understanding of European research practice and its potential for landscape architecture.
- Knowledge of the European planning system and the ability to apply the relevant planning instruments in practice.
- Understanding of the various national planning methods and the ability to use them.
