Karen Morris Sanchez
IMLA graduate
Mexico
"When I joined the IMLA programme, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect or how the experience would shape my understanding of landscape architecture. Looking back, it gave me a much broader perspective on the profession and on the different ways we interact with and transform the landscape. Through the projects and courses, I learned to look at landscape from different scales and perspectives – from natural processes and ecological systems to human interventions and the relationship between people and place.
Working on projects in different contexts challenged me to question some of my previous knowledge and approach design with a more open and critical perspective. Most importantly, I met wonderful people, both fellow students and teachers, who made the experience much more meaningful and from whom I learned a great deal. IMLA ultimately gave me not only new knowledge and tools, but a different way of looking at landscape and at my own work as a landscape architect."
