The study programme International Master of Landscape Architecture (IMLA), a cooperation between the two partners HfWU (NĂ¼rtingen-Geislingen University) and HSWT (Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences), was founded 20 years ago in 2001.
To celebrate this anniversary, the IMLA team organised a full-day online event via Zoom on 9 July 2021, inviting former and current IMLA students and lecturers, IMLA partners and international guests as well as interested professional audience. The event was entitled 'Insight and Outside':
After a welcome the morning session under the motto 'IMLA Insight' started with a retroperspective on 20 years of IMLA: an inspiring journey across (mainly) European landscapes with students from all over the world. This was followed up by an impulse on 'Education for Sustainable Development and the Role of Landscape Architecture: What IMLA contributes' and a roundtable discussion about the challenges and the future of landscape architecture education with international experts.
The afternoon programme under the title 'IMLA Outside' was dedicated to reports of former and current IMLA students and statements of IMLA lecturers. It was really interesting to see what former IMLA students are currently doing, how their path was like after graduation and what the IMLA programme contributed to it. The session ended up with an outlook on the future and an invitation for every participant to express wishes for the further development of the study programme via an online tool.
