Refining a faded jewel

IMLA students develop new concepts for the Ringpark in Würzburg

37 IMLA students took part in an 10 days architectural Workshop, which was organized by the building and planning department Würzburg, in cooperation with the IMLA team in Weihenstephan as well as with the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, faculty of design.
Task of the workshop was to work out an overall concept for the historical Ringpark of Würzburg including the connection to the new planned Landesgartenschau 2018 in the east of the city.
Later on, the students had to focus then more in detail on the northern part of the Ringpark including the square in front of the central station of Würzburg.
For the IMLA students this workshop during October 2014 was part of the Main Project II in the 3rd semester. During the workshop these students had the chance to work together with 17 design students. The teams worked under the supervision of Ingrid Schegk, Sabrina Wilk, Stefanie Gruber (HSWT), Claudia Frey (Würzburg-Schweinfurt) and the external tutors Juhani Karanka (Architect and Urban Planner), Ralph Schäffner (Landscape Architect) and Michael Heurich (University College Dublin).
